Kutch silver refers to high-grade silver items crafted in the Kutch region of Gujarat, India, particularly during the 19th and early 20th centuries, often characterised by dense foliate and animal chasing influenced by British colonial trade.

Kutch silver is traditionally crafted using repousse and chasing techniques, where skilled artisans hammer the metal from behind to form high-relief designs and engrave intricate surface details by hand.

Authentic pieces typically feature heavy gauge silver, meticulous hand-chased surface texturing without modern casting flaws, and occasionally artisan workshop marks or local pseudo-hallmarks typical of the colonial period.

This type of objet dart can be displayed as a focal point on a coffee table, within a glass cabinet, or styled on a sideboard to introduce historical texture and metallic contrast to modern schemes.

Antique silver should be cleaned infrequently with a soft cloth and specialist silver polish, avoiding abrasive materials that can wear away hand-chased surface details, and stored in a low-humidity environment.
