Description

An excellent set of six hallmarked silver cake forks, along with matching serving fork in the original box. These quality examples have elongated handles with an attractive bead pattern and are free from any initials or engravings. Each fork has three tines, with one being a blade for cutting through the cake. Unusually this set is presented with the matching serving fork, all in the original silk and velvet lined box. A wonderful set, of good gauge silver. Dimensions below.

An Art Deco boxed set of sterling silver tableware comprises six cake forks and a central serving fork, dating from 1939 and made in Birmingham by Arthur Price & Co Ltd. The utensils feature elongated stems decorated with beaded borders, terminating in three-tine cake forks with one wider cutting tine, and a central two-prong serving fork. The cutlery sits in a fitted black velvet presentation interior within a case lined on the lid with pleated cream silk, secured with ornate brass-coloured metal clasps and hinges. The set rests ready for display or practical use upon a sideboard top in a dining room or drawing room. Each fork measures 12.3 cm in length, whilst the presentation case measures 19 cm by 17 cm by 3 cm deep.
