Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silverware produced during the reign of King George V, beginning in 1910, reflected a transition from elaborate Victorian ornamentation toward cleaner neo-classical proportions. Silversmiths of this period combined traditional techniques, such as pierced fretwork and hand-chasing, with functional designs suited to modern dining conventions.

Authentic British silver bread dishes from the early twentieth century are constructed from sterling silver, which consists of 92.5 percent pure silver alloyed with copper for structural durability. Decorative elements were typically created using fret-saw piercing, machine stamping, or die-casting before being hand-finished.

Authentic pieces feature a complete set of British hallmarks stamped into the metal. These marks include the lion passant for sterling silver, a town mark indicating the assay office, a date letter specifying the exact year of manufacture, and a makers mark denoting the silversmithing firm.

A silver bread dish functions as a functional serving piece on a dining table or as a decorative catch-all container on a sideboard or entry console. It can also serve as a centrepiece when filled with dried botanicals, fruit, or rolled linen napkins.

Sterling silver should be cleaned using a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish applied with a soft cotton cloth or sponge. Washing by hand in warm soapy water, drying immediately, and storing in anti-tarnish cloth bags prevents excessive oxidisation and surface scratching.
