Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Spirit hip flasks emerged in their modern form during the 18th and 19th centuries, designed primarily for carrying small quantities of spirits outdoors or during travel. By the Art Deco era of the 1930s, sterling silver flasks became standard accessories for personal use and outdoor pursuits.

Traditional silver flasks are constructed from sterling silver sheets formed into a flattened, ergonomically curved body designed to sit against a jacket pocket. They typically feature a screw or bayonet cap attached via a captive hinge mechanism to prevent loss.

Authentic British sterling silver flasks bear official hallmarks stamped into the metal, including a makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver purity, an assay office town mark, and a specific date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

An antique silver flask can be styled on a drinks tray, sideboard, or bar cart alongside crystal decanters and glassware. It also serves as a decorative desktop or bookshelf accessory in traditional or modern interiors.

The exterior silver surface should be polished periodically with a soft cloth and dedicated silver polish to remove tarnish. The interior should be rinsed with warm water and left to dry thoroughly, avoiding harsh abrasive detergents or dishwasher use.
