Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A whisky noggin is a small glass decanter, often shaped like a bell or cone, designed to hold an individual serving of spirits. During the Edwardian period, silver-mounted claret jugs and noggins became popular dining accessories crafted with silver collars and hinged lids.

These items traditionally combine hand-blown or cut lead glass with sterling silver collars, mounts, and hinged lids. The silver fittings are hallmarked to indicate purity, maker, and year of production.

Authentic British sterling silver from the Edwardian era bears a set of stamped hallmarks including the lion passant mark, a town mark (such as a leopards head for London or an anchor for Birmingham), a makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the years 19011910.

Place the silver-mounted glass jug on a timber sideboard, bar cart, or tray alongside crystal glassware to create a focal point. Its clean glass silhouette and metallic accents complement both classic and contemporary decor schemes.

Wash the glass interior with warm water and mild soap using a flexible bottle brush, avoiding harsh chemicals. Polish the silver collar and lid gently with a specialised silver polishing cloth to remove oxidisation without scratching the metal.
