We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Pier cabinets originated in the Victorian era, designed specifically to fit into the wall space, or pier, between two full-length windows, often featuring glass doors to display precious ceramics and collectables.

These cabinets are typically constructed from a carcase of secondary timber veneered in figured walnut, embellished with boxwood and fruitwood marquetry or inlay, and accented with cast or chased gilt brass mounts.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints, old stock glass with subtle imperfections, traditional hand-applied polish finishes, and construction methods consistent with pre-industrial or early industrial cabinet-making.

An antique pier cabinet provides a sophisticated focal point in a modern sitting room or hallway, working well when contrasted against neutral walls and curated with a minimal selection of objects to highlight its historic craftsmanship.

Maintain antique timber by keeping it out of direct sunlight and away from direct heat sources to prevent veneer lifting or wood cracking, and nourish the surface periodically with traditional beeswax rather than modern silicone polishes.
