A late 19th century English oak stool of pegged mortise-and-tenon construction, made in the vernacular tradition. The solid oak seat features a hand-cut shaped carry handle and beautifully aged rounded edges, supported by slightly splayed tapered legs neatly joined through a simple apron.
A tactile and charming stool with heaps of character and an honest presence. The surfaces retain fine hand-planing marks and a deep, natural patina developed over more than a century of use.
Presented in very good antique condition with a warm, even finish and pleasing surface wear. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.
English, late 19th century.
