All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

During the Victorian era, pocket watches were essential timepieces, and watch chainsoften called Albert chains after Prince Albertwere worn by both men and women. Fobs attached to these chains frequently commemorated sports achievements, club memberships, or institutional milestones using enamel and precious metals.

These pieces were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, occasionally with gold accents or coloured vitreous enamel detailing on the fobs. Links were typically hand-assembled, soldered, and stamped with hallmarks denoting the assay office, metal purity, and year of manufacture.

Authentic pieces feature clear British hallmarks on individual links, the T-bar, and the swivel clasp. Look for period-correct construction methods, such as solid link fabrication rather than plated base metals, and natural oxidisation within recessed areas.

Vintage watch chains can be repurposed as contemporary necklaces, secured to waistcoat buttonholes in traditional tailoring, or displayed in glass-topped jewellery cases and display domes as items of historical interest.

Store silver jewellery in acid-free tissue or anti-tarnish bags away from high humidity. Clean sparingly with a soft microfibre cloth designed for silver, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage enamel work or strip historical patina.
