Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in early 19th-century France during Napoleon Bonapartes reign, Empire style chandeliers feature neoclassical forms inspired by classical antiquity. They typically showcase a distinctive tent and basket structure composed of cascading glass bead strands and gilt metal mountings.

Authentic period lighting in this style utilizes cast brass or bronze mountings, often finished with fire-gilding. The decorative drops and cascading swags are crafted from cut or moulded lead crystal and glass beads wired onto metal armatures.

Genuine period pieces display cast brass or bronze frames with hand-chased details, visible wirework holding individual glass beads, and signs of age such as surface oxidisation on metal elements. Reproductions frequently use lightweight alloys, machine-moulded glass, and uniform stamped fittings.

An Empire light fixture serves as a central focal point when hung above a contemporary dining table or suspended in a high-ceilinged hallway. Combining historical lighting with modern furnishings creates a balanced contrast in contemporary spaces.

Dust the brass frame and glass beads regularly with a dry microfibre cloth. For deeper cleaning, wipe individual glass drops using a soft cloth moistened with distilled water and mild alcohol, ensuring moisture does not touch internal electrical components or wire connectors.
