A Fine Pair of 19th C French Ormolu and Marble French Candlesticks

This very fine and elegant pair of French 19th century candlesticks dates to circa 1870.

They are beautiful examples made from richly gilded bronze, which has been cast and hand chased with crisp foliate detailing.

The candlesticks stand on circular gilt bronze bases and rise up in three sections of turned white marble with pale inclusions. These sections are separated by foliate rings and collars in gilt bronze, terminating in solid gilt bronze candle holders with removable candle sconces, which are decorated with contrasting ribbed and beaded patterns.

The candlesticks are in very good condition with some slight age related wear to the gilding.
