Antique Georgian Silver Cased Corkscrew with Twist Cover C1800

Description

A wonderful true antique. Dating from c1795-1800, this wonderful period corkscrew has embossed reeded banding and barrel form, with a steel screw.

Stamped to the base with IT which could possibly be Joseph Taylor of Birmingham. No other hallmarks.

MEASUREMENTS

Length: 8 cm

Weight: 19 g

In well used condition, the screw itself is broken and only half remains. There are several dings and losses to the silver. However it screws shuts firmly and is a wonderful piece of Georgian history. A real treasure.
