Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

In Victorian furniture design, a credenza is a broad, low-standing storage cabinet or sideboard typically featuring a central cupboard door flanked by glazed display compartments. They frequently feature decorative wood veneers, elaborate marquetry, turned columns, and gilt-metal mounts.

Victorian credenzas were predominantly constructed using dense hardwoods such as walnut, mahogany, or rosewood, often finished with highly figured burr walnut veneers. Decorative elements included boxwood or ebony marquetry inlays, cast ormolu (gilt-bronze) mouldings, glass panels, and velvet or silk linings inside glazed sections.

Authentic 19th-century credenzas showcase hand-cut marquetry, hand-carved column capitals, original brass or ormolu fittings, and period-appropriate joinery such as hand-dovetailed drawer construction. The presence of natural aging, subtle patina on metalwork, and original blown glass panels further indicates authenticity.

A Victorian credenza functions effectively as a focal point in a dining room, hallway, or living area, pairing well with contemporary artwork displayed above it. The glazed flanking compartments allow for the curated display of ceramics, glassware, or books, while the central cabinet provides concealed storage.

Maintain the wood surface by dusting regularly with a soft dry cloth and applying a high-grade beeswax polish periodically along the direction of the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sunlight to prevent drying, veneer lifting, or wood fading.
