Antique Victorian Burr Walnut Ormolu Mounted Credenza Cabinet Sideboard

A fine quality antique Victorian burr walnut and ormolu mounted credenza cabinet sideboard dating to circa 1850. The beautifully figured burr walnut top has an unusual shaped breakfront with curved ends, above a frieze richly decorated with gilt brass mounts.

The centre is fitted with a single cupboard door incorporating a large shaped mirror panel, surrounded by burr walnut and further decorative ormolu mounts. The cupboard opens to reveal a fitted shelved interior, while the open sides feature three beautifully shaped display shelves to each end.

The cabinet is particularly attractive for the quality and figuring of the burr walnut, complemented by fine crossbanding, delicate line inlay and extensive decorative gilt brass mounts. The shaped top, serpentine ends and open display sections give the piece an especially elegant and unusual profile.

A highly decorative Victorian credenza with excellent display and storage space, ideal as a statement cabinet, sideboard, drinks cabinet or display piece in both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Condition Report

This antique credenza is in very good condition for its age, with minor marks and signs of use consistent with its circa 1850 date. It retains a lovely rich colour and patina throughout.
