FAQs

A Kashmiri painted standard lamp is a tall floor lighting fixture traditionally handcrafted in the Kashmir region, known for intricate hand-painted floral motifs and papier-mache or wooden construction.

These lamps are typically constructed from seasoned wood or compressed paper pulp, meticulously hand-painted with detailed miniature floral designs and sealed with a protective varnish or lacquer.

Authentic pieces exhibit hand-brushed detailing with natural pigments, signs of age in the lacquer finish such as minor crazing or patina, and traditional joinery or turning techniques in the wooden core.

This lamp serves as a statement piece in eclectic, maximalist, or bohemian spaces, adding height, texture, and rich colour to empty corners or beside neutral seating arrangements.

Dust gently with a dry, soft microfiber cloth and avoid exposure to direct sunlight or moisture to protect the delicate hand-painted finish and lacquer work.
