Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

The Sustainable Choice

FAQs

Bookcases from the 1920s often featured solid timber construction, classic proportions, and understated classical mouldings influenced by earlier revival periods while embracing practical design for the home.

Authentic period bookcases are predominantly crafted from solid oak, sometimes combined with pine or other secondary timbers for internal partitions and backs, joined using traditional woodworking techniques.

Authentication involves examining the timber grain, joint construction such as dovetailing, the presence of period-appropriate fixings, and natural patina accumulated through age and use.

An antique wooden bookcase provides structural warmth and texture, serving as a functional storage solution that anchors modern living spaces or studies.

Maintain the timber by avoiding direct sunlight, keeping consistent indoor humidity levels, and occasionally applying appropriate bees-wax polish to nourish the wood surface.
