Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

19th-century carved wooden candelabras often feature multi-tiered branching arms, turned central shafts, and Gothic Revival or Folk Art architectural influences. These lighting fixtures were used in domestic interiors, churches, and grand estates prior to widespread electrification.

These items were predominantly hand-turned and carved from dense hardwoods such as oak, walnut, or beech. Components were joined using traditional mortise-and-tenon joints, wooden pegs, and turned finials to secure multi-arm configurations.

Authentic period pieces display hand-tool marks, natural wood shrinkage around joints, and uneven patination from historical wax drippings. Look for hand-cut threads on screw-together sections and signs of wear on the base feet.

Position the candelabra as a focal point in an empty corner, beside a fireplace hearth, or atop a large sideboard. Pair it with neutral beeswax pillar candles to highlight the natural grain and dark tones of the carved timber.

Remove accumulated candle wax using a soft wooden scraper or hot air on a gentle setting, taking care not to scorch the wood finish. Apply a high-grade beeswax polish periodically using a soft cloth to nourish the timber and protect the surface.
