FAQs

Pendant lights featuring brass and cut glass became prominent during the Victorian and Edwardian eras, valued for their ability to diffuse gas or electric light effectively in hallways and principal rooms.

Authentic period pieces typically feature cast brass frames combined with hand-blown glass that has been wheel-cut or press-moulded with geometric and floral motifs.

Examination of the metal components reveals casting seams, heavy gauge brass, and patination consistent with age, alongside hand-cut glass showing minor surface wear rather than smooth machine-moulded edges.

Hanging a textured glass pendant in an entrance hall or above a kitchen island introduces metallic warmth and refracts light, creating sophisticated focal points in modern minimalist schemes.

Metal elements should be gently dusted with a soft dry cloth avoiding harsh chemical brass cleaners that strip the natural patina, while the glass shade can be removed and washed in warm soapy water.
