A beautiful antique Edwardian inlaid mahogany desk by Edwards and Roberts. It was made in England, it dates from the 1900-1910 period.This is of outstanding quality, it is extremely well made and is a lovely size. The mahogany has profuse floral inlays of satin wood on the drawer fronts, with a lovely image of a face on the central drawer. The top has inlaid satin wood banding around the inset tooled leather writing surface, there is also inlaid satin wood banding around the borders of the sides and back panels. The drawers have detailed brass handles, with fine, hand cut dovetailed joints. The central drawer has the Edwards and Roberts makers mark stamped on the edge, the upper right drawer is fitted out with stationary holders.The back of the desk is nicely finished, this can be used as a free standing item.
