Edwardian Garnet 9ct Gold Earrings and Negligee Necklace

A beautiful set of antique garnet chain drop earrings and negligee necklace in nine-carat gold. As natural stones, when held up to the light the garnets have a lovely variety of tones from orangey-red to a deep purplish wine colour.

The earrings and necklace are not exactly matching but they came to me as a set, presumably matched by a previous owner, and look great worn together so I'm selling them that way.

• Condition: In excellent antique condition. The earring posts look as though they are later conversions and most likely started out as screw backs or wires.

• Fixing: The earrings have nine-carat gold posts and butterfly scrolls for pierced ears and the necklace closes with a secure spring ring clasp.

• Hallmarks/stamps: The butterflies are stamped 9CT, no other hallmarks. All pieces test as nine-carat gold.

• Era: Estimated Edwardian (c.1901-1914).

• Size: The earrings measure 3 x 0.5cm. The chain is 14 inches (36cm) long; this is quite a short length which won't fit everyone so please be sure to measure first.

• Necklace weight: 5.9g. Earrings weight: 1.9g.
