Catherines Antique Jewellery Box has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
It is a very tactile piece featuring a stunning very large faceted deep red garnet measuring 15.5mm x 11.5 mm. The locket is unmarked but has been tested for 15ct gold. The locket is in excellent condition for its age with no dents or bashes. It is an impressive medium sized locket with a bit of weight to it. The garnet section can be removed to reveal the inner locket section which currently features a part of a ten shilling note. The total weight is 6.6g
