FAQs

The Adam style, popularised by the brothers Robert and James Adam in the 18th century, draws heavily from classical antiquity, featuring symmetrical geometric forms, delicate neoclassical motifs such as fluting and beading, and a refined sense of proportion.

Georgian candlesticks were typically cast in brass using multi-part sand-casting or lost-wax techniques, then hand-finished on a lathe to refine details. Components were often joined securely or weighted internally for stability.

Authentic pieces often exhibit construction characteristics such as casting seams, hand-file marks, patination appropriate to age, and multi-piece assembly rather than modern single-mold construction.

They can be arranged on a mantelpiece, dining table, or sideboard to introduce metallic warmth, classical lines, and a sense of history that contrasts effectively with modern minimalist furnishings.

Antique brass should be dusted gently with a soft dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners or abrasive polishes that strip historical patina; mild soap and water applied sparingly followed by thorough drying is generally recommended.
