Beautifully crafted earrings in richly coloured silver gilt with garnet cabochons set amid finely applied Etruscan-style wirework. Note the lovely little garnet terminal on each wire and the glossy polished onyx cabochon on each base.Around 1880 many gold treasures dating back to the ancient Etruscan era (700-300 BC) were being discovered in Italian tombs, leading to the emergence of the Etruscan Revival as Victorian jewellers sought to recreate the style.
