Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

French gilt brass wall lights typically draw inspiration from classical design motifs, incorporating ornate metalwork, symmetrical twin arms, and decorative backplates designed to reflect candlelight or artificial light.

These pieces are generally constructed from cast brass or bronze that has been finished with a layer of gold gilt or leaf. Traditional manufacturing involved sand casting or lost-wax casting, followed by hand-chasing and assembly of individual components.

Authentic pieces often exhibit signs of age such as minor wear to the gilding, hand-filed joints, patination in recessed areas, and traditional screw threads or fasteners characteristic of older manufacturing techniques.

They can be used as flanking elements on either side of a fireplace, mirror, or artwork to add layered ambient lighting and a touch of metallic texture to contemporary spaces.

Maintenance requires dusting gently with a dry, soft cloth. Abrasive cleaners, chemical polishes, and excessive moisture must be avoided to prevent stripping the delicate gold leaf or gilt surface.
