Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Baluch rugs are nomadic woven textiles originating from the border regions of eastern Persia and western Afghanistan. They are recognised for their dark, saturated colour palettes, dense wool piles, and geometric, repeating motifs such as prayer niches or penbox designs.

Traditional Baluch rugs feature a pure wool pile knotting woven onto a wool foundation, although goat hair or cotton is occasionally used for warps and side wrappings. Dyes were historically derived from natural plant and mineral sources, creating rich terracotta, dark blue, brown, and black tones.

Authentic 19th-century pieces display soft, hand-spun wool with natural dye abrash (colour variation), depressed warps, and supple foundations. Patterns often include stylized geometric forms, repeating architectural motifs, and selvages wrapped in dark wool or goat hair.

A Baluch rug introduces texture and historical depth when placed atop neutral timber flooring or stone tiles. Its muted red and deep navy tones anchor dark academia spaces, traditional libraries, or minimalist contemporary rooms requiring grounded visual warmth.

Vacuum regularly using a suction-only setting without a rotating brush to protect the pile fibers. Ensure the rug is placed over a high-quality underlay, rotated periodically to equalise wear and light exposure, and professionally spot-cleaned by a specialist conservator when necessary.
