Size: 11ft 0in x 6ft 5in (335 x 196cm).
A good example of a main carpet by the Chakhansur Baluch of South West Afghanistan, border region near the Seistan Desert. Typical design for this region. Excellent wool, tight weave and natural dyes.
Circa 1900.
The carpet has superb colour with warm madder red tones and deep aubergine, with the design outlined in dark indigo blue, there are ivory highlights around the border. This unique design would appear to be a repeat tree or shrub design, the diamond border is also found on carpets woven by the Timuri tribes.
The carpet is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good full pile.
The carpet is suitable for normal domestic use.
A very good example of genuine Baluch weaving.
