A Chinese Export Hand Painted Leather Trunk on Later Stand C1900, 78cm.An exquisitely painted, Chinese Export antique trunk circa 1900, skilfully hand painted with exotic birds and chrysanthemum floral decoration on a hide trunk, probably pig skin and supported by a later 20th century wooden stand.The handmade leather trunk, pig skin hide is in the style of a traditional Chinese dowery or wedding chest, most likely made for the commercial export market circa 1900-1920, late Qing dynasty to early republic, measuring 78cm wide, measured at the stand, with a hinged lid, original brass lock and carrying handles.The trunk is structurally excellent and retains good colour to its splendid decorative theme to all sides and top. Whilst showing evidence of timeworn use and some rubbing to lower parts but minimal, possibly the paint has faded a little over time.
