An exceptional, fine and impressive, rare antique Victorian English cast sterling silver three piece bird condiment set; an addition to our novelty silver cruets/condiments collection.
This exceptional and rare antique Victorian English sterling silver condiment set consists of a mustard pot, a pepper pot and a salt.
The mustard pot has been modelled in the form of a cast silver chick, bearing details replicating the bird''s feathers and anatomical features.
The fine mustard pot is fitted the original hinged cover, comprised of the bird''s back and wings.
The pepper shaker has been crafted in the form of an egg, fitted with a push fit cover incorporating an array of pierced ''pepper'' holes to the upper portion.
The impressive Victorian silver salt replicates details of a broken egg, with the lower portion creating the salt vessel with a shaped upper rim.
The mustard pot and salt are secured to silver base ornamented with terrain details; the impressive detachable egg
...-shaped pepper sits to a recess to the base.
The decoration to the base incorporates a vacant shield-shaped cartouche to one side.
This exceptional antique condiment set is fitted to the original impressive oval black ebonised wood plinth, bearing the applied silver elucidating wording ''Just Out'' to the anterior surface.
The salt and pepper pots bear the original gilding; this has diminished with age in a sympathetic fashion to an aesthetically pleasing mellow colour.
The service is supplied with associate mustard and salt spoons.
The surface of the silver base bears a ''lozenge mark'' which certifies the patent of this piece on 19th October 1871 with the UK Patent Office.
This Victorian silver bird condiment set is an ideal gift for collectors of novelty silver or avian motifs - blending function with charm. Perfect for birthdays, housewarmings or adding distinctive character to a silverware collection, it serves as both practical tableware and a memorable conversation piece.
