Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Faraday & Sons was a renowned London lighting firm known for producing high-quality metalwork, particularly in brass and bronze, often featuring rigorous attention to engineering, classical proportions, and integrated electrical adaptations.

These lamps were typically cast in solid brass using sand-casting or lost-wax methods, then hand-turned on lathes for precision, finished with threaded fittings, and often left with an unlacquered surface to develop a natural patina over time.

Authenticity is generally verified through makers marks, stamps, or registration numbers stamped into the metal base or collar, alongside weight indicators, period-appropriate wiring components, and hand-finished casting details.

An antique brass lamp adds warmth and historical texture when placed on a contemporary timber desk, a marble mantelpiece, or a minimalist sideboard, contrasting clean modern lines with aged metallic craftsmanship.

Preservation involves dusting with a dry microfiber cloth and avoiding harsh chemical metal polishes that strip the historic patina; any rewiring should be performed by a certified electrician using period-appropriate braided flex.
