Edwardian silver novelty pepperettes are small condiment containers shaped as animals or objects, produced during the Edwardian era, which combined functional dining table use with whimsical sculptural design.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver using traditional silversmithing techniques such as casting, chased feather detailing, and hand-finishing to create realistic textures.

Authenticity is verified by examining hallmarks for the lion passant, city mark, and date letter corresponding to the Edwardian period, alongside checking for crispness in the chased feather details and correct head-detachable mechanisms.

They make excellent display items on dining table centres, sideboard tops, or mantelpieces, adding a touch of sophisticated wit and historical charm to contemporary table settings.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly with a non-abrasive silver cloth to preserve the patina, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can damage intricate chased details.
