Chest Victorian Pine Marriage Chest Blanket Box

Here we have a fantastic continental Marriage chest. The chest as you can see is in its original paint and an interior decorators dream. The chest is nicely dated and initialed to 1866 and has all its original iron strapwork. The original lock is in place. As you can also see the chest is sitting on its original stand which is quite rare given that these stands are usually eaten away by worm. The stand does have a little worm damage on the back but has been treated and is solid. The chest itself is in great condition. There are obviously some wear points to the paint as you would expect but these just add to the patina and desirable look. The inside is almost untouched and with the original pinned hand forged handles and hinges it is a real treat. So many of these chests get messed about with but this one is what we call in the trade 'right'. A fantastic marriage chest with great colour, proportions in great condition ready for your home. Dimensions are approx 41 inches wide 26 high 21 deep.
