We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French wall lanterns evolved from exterior street and carriage lighting into interior decorative fixtures during the 18th and 19th centuries, often featuring ornate brass frames and curved glass panels designed to maximize candle or gaslight reflection.

Authentic period lanterns are typically constructed from cast or pressed brass with hand-soldered joints, fitted with curved or convex blown glass panes and finished with a gold-gilded or patinated surface.

Authenticity is usually determined by inspecting the weight and composition of the brass frame, checking for hand-blown glass irregularities, examining wiring methods, and looking for period-appropriate fastening screws and natural oxidation.

These fixtures can be mounted symmetrically flanking a fireplace, mirror, or entryway to introduce classic architectural elegance and warm metallic contrast into modern spaces.

Gilded surfaces should be dusted gently with a dry microfibre cloth to avoid abrasive damage, while glass panes can be cleaned with a mild glass cleaner applied directly to a cloth rather than sprayed onto the metal frame.
