Art Nouveau emerged in the late 19th century, drawing inspiration from natural forms such as plants, flowers, and flowing organic lines, which heavily influenced silversmithing of the period.

These utensils were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hallmarks stamped on the metal to indicate the standard, assay office, and year of manufacture.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining the maker marks, city hallmarks, and date letters stamped into the metal, alongside assessing the natural patina and wear consistent with age.

Vintage silverware can be displayed in glass-fronted cabinets, used on a dining table for special occasions, or styled within a traditional display tray.

Silver should be cleaned periodically using a specialised non-abrasive silver polish and stored in a dry, tarnish-resistant environment to maintain its finish.
