Edwardian silver craftsmanship frequently drew inspiration from earlier historical periods such as the Rococo and Baroque revivals, characterised by ornate pierced work, scrolling foliage, and figural motifs like cherubs.

These items were typically manufactured from sterling silver using techniques such as casting, piercing, hand-chasing, and repousse work to create high-relief surface ornamentation.

Authenticity is verified by examining the hallmarks stamped on the metal, which typically include a lion passant for sterling silver, a city mark, a date letter corresponding to the assay year, and the makers mark.

Antique silver pieces add textural contrast and reflective metallic accents when displayed on wooden surfaces such as sideboards, mantelpieces, or dressing tables alongside modern minimalist decor.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a non-abrasive silver cloth and specialised polish to maintain the natural oxidisation in recessed areas that highlights the detailed chasing.
