A Louis XVI style pair of French bronze candlesticks c1850. These heavy low candlesticks are cast in heavy bronze, and burnished to resemble a gold or gilded surface. They are made in the rococo style, popular in France and England from the 1700s onwards. The design is characterised by its asymmetrical organic motifs, which are fully evident in these candlesticks by the scrolls, C and S shapes and the frilled organic motif on the sconces. Heavy, impressive, and in excellent condition. They will glimmer and shimmer when the candles are lit!
