Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

FAQs

Caddy spoons emerged in the mid-18th century as luxury items designed for measuring loose-leaf tea from a caddy into a teapot, reflecting the high status and expense of tea at the time.

They were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, often featuring hand-hammered bowls, engraved handles, and occasionally bone, ivory, or mother-of-pearl components.

Authenticity is typically verified by examining hallmarks stamped on the metal, which indicate the assay office, makers mark, and date letter corresponding to the Georgian period.

Antique silver pieces add a layer of historic texture when displayed in glass-fronted cabinets, used on tabletop displays, or integrated into curated tablescapes.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using non-abrasive silver polish and a soft cloth, and stored in a dry environment free from humidity to prevent tarnishing and oxidisation.
