Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Jewellery from the 1940s Retro era is recognised for bold, sculptural forms, fluid scroll motifs, and dynamic movement. Moving away from the strict geometric lines of Art Deco, pieces often featured swirling shapes, ribbons, and asymmetric curves set in gold or platinum.

1940s fine jewellery frequently utilised 14ct or 18ct white and yellow gold, as well as platinum. Settings featured brilliant-cut, single-cut, or transitional-cut diamonds secured in bezel, grain, or claw settings.

Authentic 1940s earrings display period-accurate metal hallmarks, hand-finished settings, and stone cuts typical of the mid-20th century, such as transitional or round brilliant cuts. The craftsmanship often features open-backed settings to maximise light refraction.

These structured scroll designs function well as statement accessories for formal evening wear or to elevate crisp, tailored contemporary tailoring. Their balanced silver-toned palette complements both monochrome and vibrant outfits.

Clean diamond jewellery using lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft-bristled brush to remove accumulated oils. Store pieces separately in soft fabric pouches to prevent diamonds from scratching other items.
