FAQs

Maintain silver items by dusting regularly with a soft cloth and using specialized non-abrasive silver polish sparingly only when necessary to remove tarnish, avoiding harsh chemical dips.

An antique silver coaster can be used as a refined catch-all on a coffee table or sideboard, introducing a reflective metallic accent that contrasts well with contemporary furnishings.

Authentic pieces are identified by hallmarks stamped into the metal indicating the standard of silver, the assay office, the makers mark, and a date letter corresponding to the year of manufacture.

These items are typically crafted from sterling silver using traditional silversmithing techniques such as spinning, hammering, and soldering, often featuring turned wooden bases on wine coasters or solid metal construction for smaller dishes.

Silver dish and bottle coasters gained popularity in the 18th and 19th centuries to protect polished wooden dining tables from moisture and heat rings caused by serving vessels.
