They are then used to decorate the inside of the Yurt. They are often embroidered in silk on strips of cotton which are then joined together to make the complete item. The suzani is then backed with fine cotton to give it strength and body.This example is probably woven by Tajik ladies, it is silk embroidery of a floral design on a fine hand woven red cotton ground which has been block printed with a floral watermark.The condition is excellent with only very slight wear and a few scattered small old stains, the suzani is not backed.The suzani is ready for display or it could be used as a bed cover....
