Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

Antique pine trunks and blanket boxes were traditionally crafted in rural households and workshops from the 18th to the early 20th century as practical storage solutions for textiles, clothing, and household goods.

These pieces were typically constructed from solid deal or Scots pine, frequently featuring hand-cut dovetail joints at the corners, pegged frames, wrought iron or brass carrying handles, and secondary woods like pine or spruce for internal tills and bases.

Authenticity is identified through period-appropriate joinery such as hand-cut dovetails, tool marks indicating historical hand-planing, uniform patination from age and wax polishing, and handmade forged iron hardware rather than modern screws or machine-stamped hinges.

A wooden storage chest functions effectively as a coffee table in a living room, a blanket box at the foot of a bed, or an entryway storage bench, adding warmth and texture to contemporary minimalist or transitional spaces.

Preserve antique pine by maintaining stable indoor humidity levels, avoiding direct sunlight to prevent timber drying, and periodically applying a microcrystalline wax or natural beeswax to nourish the wood and protect the surface finish.
