All the mahogany lined drawers run smooth, retain original handles and locks (Hobbs & Co). Raised on 4 carved gilded bracket feet to the front and beautifully turned gilded feet to the back. An extremely handsome piece of antique furniture that will enhance any room that it is placed in. Comes with a old purchase note.

Waring & Gillows was a noted firm of English furniture manufacturers and antique dealers formed in 1897 by the merger of Gillows of Lancaster and London and Waring of Liverpool.
Alfred Charles Hobbs (1812 – 1891) formed a company in London which was formally registered as Hobbs & Co. The firm went through various incarnations becoming Hobbs, Ashley & Co in 1855 and then Hobbs, Ashley & Fortescue and finally Hobbs, Hart & Co in 1860 based in Cheapside in London. They were very successful using advanced machine production methods.
