Philip Hunt Antiques has dated this Mahogany Chippendale Writing Desk to the 1900s.
A superb mahogany Chippendale style writing desk, beautifully crafted in the traditional manner and standing upon elegant cabriole legs terminating in boldly carved ball and claw feet, with finely carved masks adorning the knees.

The desk is richly decorated throughout, featuring blind fretwork, canted corners and finely carved mouldings. The top is fitted with a quality leather writing surface, enhanced by hand-applied blind tooling, providing an elegant and practical writing area.

The sides and reverse are particularly well finished with applied shaped astragal mouldings, confirming that the desk is fully freestanding and designed to be admired from all angles. A handsome and highly decorative piece of Chippendale-inspired furniture, presented in good condition.
