Dust regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and clean glass panels with a mild glass cleaner, avoiding harsh chemical abrasives on the unlacquered brass to preserve its natural ageing process.

Pairing a classic metallic lantern with neutral walls and minimalist architectural details creates a sophisticated focal point that bridges traditional craftsmanship with modern design.

Authenticity is assessed by examining the metal patina, casting quality, hand-blown characteristics of the glass panels, and the construction of the internal wiring components or historical wick mechanisms.

Authentic period lanterns are typically constructed from cast or spun brass frames fitted with hand-blown curved or flat glass panels, often joined by traditional soldered or mechanical fixings.

Hanging lanterns originated in coaching inns and grand entrances during the 17th and 18th centuries, designed to illuminate dark hallways and provide a welcoming threshold before the widespread adoption of domestic electricity.
