A whisky tot is a small, single-serving jug or decanter traditionally used in British households and clubs to pour a measured measure of whisky or water for spirits during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

These pieces typically combine clear cut glass or blown crystal bodies with sterling silver mounts, hinges, and lids, often featuring star-cut bases.

Authenticity is verified through clear British hallmarks stamped on the silver mount, indicating the assay office, date letter, and silver standard, alongside period-typical manufacturing methods in the glass.

It can be displayed on a bar cart, sideboard, or drinks tray alongside other crystal glassware to add a touch of period sophistication to a living room or study.

Wash the glass by hand in warm soapy water and use a specialist non-abrasive silver cloth on the metal mounts, taking care to avoid getting moisture trapped in the hinged lid mechanism.
