Walnut was extensively utilised in cabinet making during the late 17th century, the Queen Anne period, and later experienced a significant revival during the Victorian and Edwardian eras.

Traditional construction typically involves solid timber frames with figured walnut veneers applied to primary surfaces, often featuring dovetail joints in the shelving and carcass construction.

Authenticity is assessed by examining timber shrinkage, hand-cut dovetailing, traditional polish finishes like shellac or wax, and natural ageing characteristics within the grain structure.

Pairing antique wooden furniture with neutral wall colours and minimalist contemporary decor creates a balanced focal point that highlights the rich grain of the timber.

Maintain stable indoor humidity levels, keep pieces away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and periodically apply microcrystalline wax to nourish and protect the wood surface.
