Strictly Vetted Dealers

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Secure Transit

Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.

The Sustainable Choice

Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

FAQs

The George V period spans from 1910 to 1936, characterised by a revival of traditional Georgian styles alongside early Art Deco influences, often marked by high manufacturing standards and distinct assay office hallmarks.

These pieces are typically fashioned from solid sterling silver, stamped with a standard 925 fineness, and shaped using traditional silversmithing techniques such as spinning, soldering, and hand-engraving.

Authenticity is verified through clear hallmarks stamped directly onto the metal, including the makers mark, the lion passant for sterling silver, the town assay mark, and a date letter corresponding to the specific year of production.

An antique silver piece adds metallic contrast and historical interest when placed on a bookshelf, desk, or mantelpiece, complementing both minimalist modern spaces and traditional interiors.

Antique silver should be cleaned sparingly using a soft microfibre cloth and a specialist non-abrasive silver polish, avoiding harsh chemical dips that can strip away the natural patina and hallmarks.
