Regency style furniture, produced in Britain during the early 19th century, is characterised by classical proportions, inspired by ancient Greek and Roman designs, often featuring fine timber veneers and restrained classical ornamentation.

Cabinet makers typically utilised dense hardwoods such as mahogany, rosewood, or oak for the structural carcass and exterior veneers, incorporating crown glass within delicate wooden glazing bars.

Authenticity is identified through period construction techniques, including hand-cut dovetail joints, traditional timber shrinkage, old hand-blown or cylinder glass panes within the astragal bars, and period-appropriate brass hardware.

An antique wooden bookcase brings architectural depth and warmth to modern spaces when contrasted against neutral walls, serving as a functional display unit for curated book collections and decorative objects.

Preserve antique wood by maintaining stable room humidity away from direct sunlight and heat sources, applying occasional traditional beeswax polishes, and avoiding synthetic aerosol sprays.
