Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.

Joined stools, or joint stools, originated in the 16th and 17th centuries, constructed using traditional mortise and tenon joints secured with wooden pins rather than nails.

These pieces were predominantly built from native English hardwoods, primarily oak, selected for durability and strength.

Authenticity is indicated by hand-planed surfaces, irregular tool marks, pegged joinery, timber shrinkage, and deep natural patination developed over centuries.

Positioning the stool as an occasional side table or a standalone accent piece adds architectural weight and historical contrast to contemporary spaces.

Maintain antique wood by keeping it away from direct sunlight and heat sources, and treat it periodically with traditional beeswax to nourish the timber.
