Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Charles II silver tankard is a heavy sterling silver drinking vessel produced in England during the Restoration period between 1660 and 1685. These vessels are typically characterised by a flat-topped hinged lid, a tapered cylindrical body, and a sturdy S-scroll handle.

Seventeenth-century English silver tankards were handcrafted from sterling silver (92.5% purity) using raised sheet metal techniques. Details such as the scroll handle, thumbpiece, and lid hinge were cast separately and soldered onto the hammered body before hallmarking.

Authentic Charles II silver features a complete set of London hallmarks, including the makers mark, the leopards head crowned, the lion passant, and a date letter specific to the era. Flat, stepped lids and cast bifurcated or scroll thumbpieces are also key physical indicators of this period.

An antique silver tankard works well as a focal accent on a dark wood sideboard, inside a illuminated glass display cabinet, or amongst leather-bound books on a library shelf. Combining polished silver with natural textures creates visual contrast in traditional or contemporary settings.

Sterling silver should be cleaned using a mild silver polish and a soft, non-abrasive cotton cloth to remove tarnish without scratching the metal. Store the vessel in a dry environment wrapped in tarnish-resistant cloth, avoiding exposure to harsh chemicals or rubber.
