Antique Qashqai Tribal Rug. 203cm X 138cm.

1900 - 1920
Description

Fars region,south west persia, first quarter 20th century.

Another tribal weaving from country house & eastern interiors in this qashqai rug.

Selected stock for it's quirky motifs especially the peacocks with exaggerated tail and head crests.

Notice the upside down peacock,other birds and animals scattered about its design.

Deep saturated vegetable dyed colours and beautifully bound coloured side cords making it a sight to walk over and behold every day .

All ends and sides secured. Minor even wear.

Hand washed and de-dusted.

Size is 6 foot 8 inches by 4 foot 6 inches. 203cm X 138cm. At widest points. Fringes not measured in size. All woollen construction with wefts dyed terracotta as is usual.
