Striking French Art Deco (1930s) Muller Frères wrought iron table lamp with nice multi-coloured shade from Degué. 36.5cm high x 17cm (shade) diameter, weight 1.5kg.

Very good condition (small chip on shade), new wiring, bulb and plug. Will be fitted with a UK/European or USA plug and bulb, as required.

The shade is signed Rethondes (a small village near Compiègne), one of the signatures used by Degué, the glass factory of David Guéron. Of Jewish Turkish origin, Guéron came to France as a young man to join the foreign legion after which he settled down in Paris. Overwhelmed by the 1925 Art Deco exhibit he started his own glass company in 1926, la cristallerie Degué, with its factory in Compiègne.
